LOUISVILLE ANGELS  - TEAM HISTORY

The Louisville Angels were founded in 2003, their inaugural season.  They are part of the Derby City Baseball League, located in the derby city,
Louisville, Kentucky.   The Derby City Baseball League is a Adult league affiliated with the National Amateur Baseball Federation.  Derby City
Baseball Field is the home of the NABF Major Division World Series.  In 2004 the league switched to all wood bats.  Many, players have went
on to play professionally after having played in the league.  It is the intention of the Angels to provide an outlet for high school, college, and
post college players an opportunity to hone, develop or just enjoy their skills.

The Angels first season was an up and down season but, they finished their first season 13-12 and laid the foundation for future Angel teams.
Most of the players were from the 2003 IUS team and only a few remain from that first season.

The Angels 2004 campaign once again started out looking very good, as they won their first 5 games.  After 5 games they lost their #1 starter
and went into a tailspin losing 8 games in a row.  Amidst this losing streak things were learned about team commitment and only those that
really wanted to play were with them in the end.  They went 5-5 the rest of the way and got back on the right track even with a depleted roster.
The second season was a disappointment as the Angels finished 10-13.

The 2005 Louisville Angels were a team that peaked at the right time and made a great run to get to the regional playoffs in Evansville, In.
They won 7 of their last 8 games and came together with some great chemistry and desire at the end of the season. The team finished 14-8
and completed the best season in Angels history.

The 2006 season was a disappointing season for the Angels coming off of their 2005 showing.  The team had talent but not as much leadership
as it needed.  Finished the season strong the last 7 or 8 games but still only had a 9- 13 record.

2007 brought about change, not only in personnel but also in philosophy.    We made a conscious effort to bring in some veteran guys instead of
just all college guys.  This paid big dividends almost immediately.  The Angels had their best season ever winning 17 games and also won 2
games in the playoffs.  A good core group of players that gives us something to build on for the future.

2008 approaches and the Angels have more depth and competition at every position.  We believe that if you have more than 9 guys that can start,
then it is good as a whole for the team.

"The organization has a good nucleus and a bright future if we continue to add talent.  I'm looking for that special combination of talent and
desire to match.  We want to have players that have good   attitudes and approach the game with the idea of getting better.  While I understand
that guys have jobs and other interest outside of the game, I want guys that are going to let it all hang out on the field." Stacy said.  The Angels are
looking forward to the upcoming season so come on out and show some support for the team.
