Western Kentucky- 2005
Outfielder L/L
Notes- New to the Angels this year, Antone comes off of 4 solid years at Western Kentucky. In 2002 he made the All-American Team as a freshman. Rated 14th best prospect in Kentucky by Baseball America(2004). Was 2004 pre-season All-Sunbelt Conference. Earned national player of the week honors in 2004 by Baseball America. Had a stint with the Evansville Otters in 2006. Is currently an assistant with Manual High Baseball Team.
Comments-Antone brings an abundance of talent and veternship to this team. Back for a second season, things should come easier this campaign. Finished the season with a Homerun that almost brought us all the way back in the last game of the season.
2 Andrew Herberger
Age 19 6'1 190

Made the All Region team 3 years in a row. Helped lead the Tigers to the State Semi-Finals in 2006. Andrew loves to eat, play ball, long walks on the beach, talking to girls, and chillin with the boys!
Comments-Andrew is going to be a good acquisition for us. He provides depth and enthusiasm to this already solid team. Coming off of a knee injury at Spalding, he is just beginning to find his legs. We should see glimpses of the player he will become in the future.
#3 Devin Ward

Spalding Unversity-2006
Outfield R/R
Notes-A graduate of Lexington Catholic High School in 2002. Had 9 doubles, 8 homeruns and a .541 slugging percentage Senior season. Part of the new core of the Angels in 2006.
Comments-A 5 tool guy on this level, and a 4 tool guy on the next level. Devin is a young man that is still improving as he starts his post college career. Enthusiasm is infectious, when channeled in the right direction. We look for Devin to be a vital part of this team in the coming years. Maybe his greatest asset is the ability to position himself and others in the outfield. "He has an uncanny ability, to be in the right place at the right time."

Comments-Back for a second season, is part of the core group that reached the regional last season. Will occupy the lead-off spot in the line-up. Versatility to play a variety of positions makes Brian a true find. A Ryan Freel type of player that will run thru a wall to make a play. His style of play will bleed into the other players approaches.

Age 19 6'1 205
Louisville, Kentucky
Spalding University
1B R/R
Notes-This Louisville freshman comes to the Angels after an illustrious high school career. A 2007 Ballard High School Graduate. His defining moment came in the regional championship game during his senior year as he hit a 10th inning grand slam, to make his team 7th Region Champs. Had a solid Freshman year at Spalding University, where he lead the team with 23 RBI's. One of Rhino's favorite things to do is take a nap.
Comments- A big strong first basemen, built like a Rhino, with those tree trunks for legs. Another of the Young Guns, has the potential to be very good. Greg needs to keep working hard and getting better. Will give us small burst of offense this season. With the lineup around him he should find hitting to his liking.
#9 Bryant Jones
Age 6'0 190

Infield R/R
Notes-A 2000 graduate of Shelby County High School. Hit .440 with 13 home runs and made the All-State team in his Senior season. Played for the North Shore Spirit in 2005 and hit .333 that season. Bryant is also an umpire, when he is not playing.
Comments-Another one of those diamonds in the rough. A true find for this organization, Bryant should pay big dividends for this team. Has ability to play ss or 2nd at a high level. Gives us great depth up the middle and will be a true menace on offense. Look for big things out of this talent as he comes into his prime.

Spalding University
Pitcher R/R
Notes-A 2005 graduate of Butler High School in Louisville. Made All-District and 6th and 7th All-Stars Senior season. Was Butler's "Pitcher of the Year in 2005." Knee surgery forced him to red shirt in 2006. Came on strong with some nice outings in 2007 at Spalding University. This sophomore pitcher for Spalding is a Louisville native. He was acknowledged as a 2nd team All Conference performer by the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and lists winning at the Semi-State during his senior year of high school as his top athletic moment.
Comments-Justin has a great attitude and a desire to match. He wants the baseball and that is what you want from a pitcher. Good size and talent will keep this young man developing as he matures. A joy to be around at the ballpark, which keeps guys loose and is an undervalued trait on most ball clubs.

Comments- A major acquisition for the Angels in 2008. Alex is a big strong talented player, who has the enthusiasm to match. Should be a great fit at 3rd base for this team. Alex can be as good as he wants to be. If he keeps working hard he may have a shot at joining former Angels who are now playing professionally. The sky is the limit for this great find.

Comments- Shawn brings toughness and great instincts to the Angels. He has the ability to play a bunch of positions really well. Another player in this young guns group that will give us depth at multiple positions. Has a great pedigree, and should only get better as he matures.

Comments-Jacob joins the Angels this year after having pitched in the regionals for the Angels in 2007. Pitched a complete game in a 9-2 win in the regionals. Jake is a multi-talented pick up. He will add depth to this team's staff. He will see action as a starter and reliever this year. May also be called upon to pinch hit as he showed ability at Spalding to play both ways. A great pickoff move and clubhouse presence make "Jake the Snake" a good addition.

Anchored the staff in 2007 before freak injury(finger) ended season, in the next to last game. Missed the postseason but is healthy again. With a full season B.J. is on pace to break multiple career records.
Comments- "Big Pimp" is back for a 3rd season with the Angels and even more is expected out of him. Will occupy a starters role for this team, and as the vetern of the staff has to show the young arms how to get it done when it counts. We need his arm to carry us at times. B.J. knows how to keep his team close, and with this offense that should mean wins for him.

Comments- Wow what a season, for this diamond in the rough. Makes me glad I can bring in talent that most won't look for or find. Brett absolutely set the league on fire. He had a great Senior year at Brescia, and we are expecting his bat to carry us much the way it did last year. Brett has a great approach to hitting: turn on the inside pitch and bang away the outside pitch. has a great knack for fouling off a pitch until he gets a mistake.
